The '''Rory & Alonzo Purr Fanclub''' (formerly "Rory & Lorelai Fanclub" and "Rory Fanclub", originally "Chew's Official Discord Server") is a Discord server managed primarily by [[Chew]] and used by [[Rory]] and [[Alonzo Purr]] fans as well as users of Chew's projects for praise and support, respectively. It was created on January 6th, 2016, and has seen many communities come and go and many periods of inactivity.

== Roles ==

The server contains many roles to distinguish users.

A majority of the roles are based around IRC user modes, specifically [https://github.com/inspircd/inspircd inspIRCd]. Notably, the hoisted ones are Owner (+q), Admin (+a), Op (+o), Half-op (+h), and Voiced (+v).

== UwUing ==

The #uwu channel is notorious amongst Rory Fanclub's members. Since its inception, it has been a gamified way to see who can uwu the most. Initially, the timer was 1 hour, but it went down to 15 minutes. However, it went down to 10 minutes on Christmas day 2021.

To help with gamification, there are <code>/uwustats</code> commands in [[ChanServ]] to show a graph of the UwUs, see the leaderboard, or your own stats.

== April Fools ==

Every April Fools since 2018, excluding 2024, there has been an <code>#april-fools-videos</code> channel for people to dump their April Fools related videos into. However, some years had some special events:

=== Geyser Fanclub (April Fools 2021) ===

In a special partnership with [https://geysermc.org GeyserMC]'s Discord server, Rory took over their server for the day, and, as a result, Geyser took over the Rory Fanclub.

=== Gilbert & Louis Fanclub (April Fools 2023) ===

For April Fools, [[Mart|Mart's]] cats, [[Louis]] and [[Gilbert]], were the primary cats being celebrated in the fanclub. All instances of Rory became Louis and Lorelai became Gilbert.

=== Lorelay & Rorelai Fanclub (April Fools 2024) ===

For April Fools 2024, the server was renamed to Lorelai and Rorelai Fanclub, and a message was sent in <code>#rory-updates</code> stating "Rory's full name is Rorelai."

== History ==

Chew's server has an extensive history, lasting almost as long as Discord itself, only being newer by about 7 months.

=== Modpack Era ===

Originally, the server was used as a server for [[ChewPack]], Chew's Minecraft modpack for the Technic Platform. It was advertised originally in the Technic Launcher's official server, and this is where a bulk of the original users came from. Some still there to this day; however, it is very unlikely that any of these members will ever be active again.

=== GotPvP Era ===

In the middle of 2016 to early 2017, Chew was the Discord Admin of the now defunct GotPvP Discord server. A few of her friends came to her server; however, most have since left.

=== Chew's Inactivity Era ===

From early 2017 to mid-2018, Chew took a 13-month break from Discord. However, the server did not die. Friends who were still around still managed to keep up a conversation. Part-way through 2017, an IRC relay was set via [https://github.com/creesch/discordIRCd discordIRCd] from her IRC Client to Discord. This kept the server somewhat active, however, it was not as active as it could've been. Additionally, the roles were updated to match that of IRC roles (Owner, Admin, Ops, Half-ops, and Voiced, with extra permission roles simply being a plus and a letter).

=== Server Inactivity Era ===

From late 2018 to late 2020, the server was in a dormant state. Almost no messages got sent anywhere, and there were only about 90 total messages in 2019.

=== Rory Era ===

In late 2020, Chew started to make a name for herself in different Minecraft communities, using none other than her cat [[Rory]]. From here, the server transformed into a Rory haven, where people came to praise Rory for being a great cat.

=== Rory and Lorelai Era ===

After [[Lorelai]] was officially adopted in October 2022, she was officially added to the server name after a poll in February 2023. Since she was adopted, several channels were made for her under the "Lorelai Simping" channel.

==== Rory and Alonzo Purr Era ====
On the Rory Fanclub's 10 year anniversary on January 6, 2026, the fanclub became a Rory and Alonzo Purr fanclub, replacing Lorelai in the title for Alonzo Purr. The Lorelai channels and emoji still remained, but new channels for Alonzo were added.

The #uwu channel is notorious amongst Rory Fanclub's members. Since its inception, it has been a gamified way to see who can uwu the most. Initially, the timer was 1 hour, but it went down to 15 minutes. However, it went down to 10 minutes on Christmas day 2021.

Originally, the server was used as a server for [[ChewPack]], Chew's Minecraft modpack for the Technic Platform. It was advertised originally in the Technic Launcher's official server, and this is where a bulk of the original users came from. Some still there to this day; however, it is very unlikely that any of these members will ever be active again.

=== GotPvP Era ===

In the middle of 2016 to early 2017, Chew was the Discord Admin of the now defunct GotPvP Discord server. A few of her friends came to her server; however, most have since left.

=== Chew's Inactivity Era ===

From early 2017 to mid-2018, Chew took a 13-month break from Discord. However, the server did not die. Friends who were still around still managed to keep up a conversation. Part-way through 2017, an IRC relay was set via [https://github.com/creesch/discordIRCd discordIRCd] from her IRC Client to Discord. This kept the server somewhat active, however, it was not as active as it could've been. Additionally, the roles were updated to match that of IRC roles (Owner, Admin, Ops, Half-ops, and Voiced, with extra permission roles simply being a plus and a letter).

=== Server Inactivity Era ===

From late 2018 to late 2020, the server was in a dormant state. Almost no messages got sent anywhere, and there were only about 90 total messages in 2019.

In late 2020, Chew started to make a name for herself in different Minecraft communities, using none other than her cat [[Rory]]. From here, the server transformed into a Rory haven, where people came to praise Rory for being a great cat.

'''Handles''' is a server-specific Discord bot developed by Chew for the TARDIS Minecraft plugin Discord server. It was created shortly after the server was in April 2020 and written in Ruby with discordrb, much like the original [[Chewbotcca for Discord (Legacy)|Chewbotcca bot]]. It was rewritten as a Cloudflare Worker in January 2026.

== History ==
The bot and all of its commands were created on April 4, 2020, and was finish on April 5, 2020. A bug relating to build checking was fixed on July 31, 2020, and various other fixes were made throughout the rest of 2020. It was not until 2023 when it got more changes, improving the wiki command (as it moved to a new wiki site), and cleaning up old code. The wiki command was once again fixed in January 2024. Finally, in September 2025, the original build checker was removed as the TARDIS Jenkins site went down.

In January 2026, a new repository was created with the bot being written in TypeScript using the Dressed Discord library. It was chosen so the bot could use HTTP interactions instead of the Discord gateway like the old bot. Only the ping and wiki commands were brought over, however.

Chew had to get a ladder to go collect her and bring her into the house.

The functionality behind rory.cat is basic. Its primary focus is to serve pictures of Rory. It contains 3 links on any given page, a link to a new Rory image (named "New Rory"), a link to the Rory API, and a link to the [[Rory & Lorelai Fanclub (Discord server)|Rory & Lorelai Fanclub Discord server]].<ref name="root">[https://rory.cat rory.cat root page]</ref>

Simply going to the root page will always show a random picture of Rory. However, clicking on the Rory image (or navigating to /id/:id manually) will take you to that image's specific page. The bot allows you to start a live game and have the plays come in when they're posted to the endpoint. By default, in-play events have a 13 second delay, and plays that don't (strikeouts, walks, etc) have a 18 second delay. This can be configured per channel, as desired. These times were chosen as they closely line up with the play happening live on TV, to prevent spoilers. Watching a game in-person, there is a few second delay before the result is posted to the API.

At the start of the 2023 season, the bot was in 79 servers; at the end of the season, it was in nearly 600 servers. By opening day of the 2024 season, the server count had risen to over 900 servers. As of now, it sits at around 1,250 servers.

Chew.pw originally started as a private repository. It was created on October 5th, 2018. Throughout its journey as a private repository, it housed many private-oriented projects. Because these projects were intended to be private, and its intention was for the entire project to be public, the commit history containing references to private links that could under no circumstances ever be public. Although all private projects have been moved at this time, the history was still tainted, so its history had to be squashed into a single commit, wiping the history.

Its basic purpose is to simplify the process of tagging and categorizing redirects.

Like the ''This is a redirect'' template, this shell template is also able to help newer contributors learn the redirect category system. Details of this part of the purpose of this shell template may be found in the [[#When used alone|When used alone]] section below.

Protection levels are automatically detected by this template by use of {{tl|pp-protected}} and {{tl|pp-move}}. When edit protection or move protection (or both) is applied to a redirect that has been tagged with this template, the protection level is automatically detected, and the redirect will be tagged with a protection rcat and sorted to the appropriate protection-related category(ies). When protection is altered or removed, then the protection-related rcats and category(ies) will also be (automatically) changed or removed from the redirect.

This template can categorize and display the text (with parameters) of any number of rcats that are needed (usually from one to seven).
