Cubed Survival was a Minecraft game-mode developed by Chew. The main gimmick was gameplay was focused inside a 512x200x512 block "cube" with several layers. The currency was emeralds, which could be found in the deeper layers of the cube.

Gameplay

Gameplay consisted of two worlds to interact in. One being the hub world, where there was trading and an animal farm for food. Additionally, there was a way to buy portal blocks and make your way into dimensions like the Nether and The End. There was also a spot for buying a TARDIS to make traveling around the main world easier. Currency is entirely emeralds, which can be mined in the cube.

The Cube

The main world, also known as "The Cube" was a 512x200x512, PvP-enabled area surrounded by bedrock and a 10-block barrier ceiling. There was also a spawn area that was safe from PvP. There were 4 layers, listed as follows:

  • A 10-block layer on the surface, with 6 types of logs, with 4% of dirt mix in.
  • Between y=80 and y=189, there was 71.75% stone, 12% iron ore, 12% coal ore, 1% gravel, and 0.25% emerald ore.
  • Between y=17 and y=79, there was 10% gold ore, 68.5% stone, 8% iron ore, 8% coal ore, 2% gravel, and 0.50% emerald ore.
  • Between the floor at y=1 and y=16, there was 3% diamond ore, 10% obsidian, 0.7% lava, 2% emerald ore, 0.1% emerald block, 74.1% stone, 2% iron ore, 1% redstone ore, 1% lapis ore, 2% coal ore, and 5% gravel.

Currency

Currency was entirely your amount of emeralds, which you can mine from the layers. You could put emeralds in a "bank" chest and it would count towards your amount as well.

Trading

In the Hub world, there were 5 main villagers and 2 special villagers to trade for items not possible to obtain in the cube.

The common villagers were:

  • Mineral Merchant - To trade up from logs/stone to iron, to diamonds, to emeralds.
  • Food Merchant - A way to buy food with emeralds.
  • Brewing Items Merchant - A way to obtain brewing ingredients like Nether Warts, Melon Seeds, Fermented Spider Eyes, Glowstone Blocks, Sugar Cane, Sand, and Slimeballs.
  • Exotic or Misc Items Merchant - A way to trade mob heads (that were commonly dropped) to emeralds, and to get blaze rods, water buckets, and experience bottles.
  • Farmer Merchant - A way to obtain saddles, leather, feathers, cocoa beans, saplings, and leaves.

There were also 2 "special" villagers.

  • Portal Merchant - Used to trade for items to build the portal. You were only able to get shards, and the shards turned into the portal block.
  • Time Lord Merchant - A way to trade for TARDIS plugin seed blocks and other items.
